The works are presented in their historical, social and cultural context, with a focus both on their intrinsic artistic value and on their wider significance for History of Art.

The accompanying audio CD contains graded-to-level descriptions of the artistic works, thus enabling the student to practise listening skills while learning art-related vocabulary. Lively dialogues between recurring characters offer samples of contemporary spoken Italian and are especially useful to revise grammar rules and communicative functions.
