15-year-old Sibel is from Turkey, but lives with her family in Germany. She has to live a double-life: at home she is the good Turkish girl wearing her scarf and going to the Mosque, but at school she tries to be a more modern girl. She falls in love with a German boy, and this really changes her life!
Patricia Mennen
I was born in Augsburg, but grew up in the little medieval town Riedlingen an der Donau. As soon as I was able to write, I ran around with a notebook and a pen, just to write down everything I felt was important to me. These books were a mixture of diaries, idea books and facts. Like life itself, they were colorful kaleidoscopes. After high school I studied art history and theater studies in Munich and Würzberg. For a while I even studied acting, but I quickly realized that I like being backstage more than I like being on stage. Later, I began studying to become an editor at a children and young adult publishing house. That is where I began writing my first children's book "Damals in der Ritterzeit". After the birth of my daughter I took a leap and started working as a freelance writer. I have never regretted this leap, because it is the best job in the world. I live near Provence with my family and several pets, and I have written more than 150 books (factual books, picture books and novels) in over 20 different languages.
