Intriguing article in the Canadian newspaper, the Times Colonist that suggests that language acquisition begins before birth. According to a recent study at the University of Regina, babies already start to learn language by hearing the rhythm of the language while still in the womb. This means that when they are born they can already identify their own language. This research will provide much food for thought for expectant bilingual parents.
