It's official: the Oxford English Dictionary have declared 2011’s Word of the Year to be 'Squeezed middle'. The term was originally coined by the Labour leader, Ed Miliband. This follows 2010's OUP Word of the Year, 'Refudiate', coined by the U.S. politician, Sarah Palin, and 2009's Word of the Year, 'Unfriend.' Here's hoping for something more positive for 2012!
